In 2017 election of Dhakari Rural Municipality (Achham district), candidate Dhan Bahadur Budha of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,454 (48.70%) votes out of total votes of 7,093 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Nawa Raj Saund of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 2,930 (27.78%) of votes. The rest of 2 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 709 (5.00) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Laxmi Saud of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,391 (48.50%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Hema Shahi of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,902 (27.95%) of votes and came in second position. Other 2 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 699 (5.00) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 128 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 75 (58.59%) males and 53 (41.41%) females. Moreover, there were total 24 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 8 wards. Same as, total 48 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 24 females and 24 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
