Wardwise Population and Households
As per 2011 population census, Dewanganj Rural Municipality had total 35,073 population with 17,863 males and 17,210 females. Out of total wards, ward number 2 had the largest population 7,484, while ward number 5 had least number of population with 7,484.
With respect to number of households, Dewanganj Rural Municipality had total 6,361 households. The ward number 2 had most households with total 1,311, while ward number 4 had least number of households with total 724 number of households.
As illustrated in the chart, the ratio of male to female population was 1.04, which indicates that Dewanganj Rural Municipality had -4 percent lower males as compared to the females. Same as, the population to household ratio was 5.51, which means that in average 5.51 family members lived in each household.

Gender wise, top 5 most age groups male population were between 10 and 14 (2,473), between 5 and 9 (2,341), below 4 (1,946), between 15 and 19 (1,832), and between 25 and 29 (1,328), with total population of 9,920. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were above 75 (246), between 70 and 74 (254), between 65 and 69 (369),between 60 and 64 (540), and between 55 and 59 (560), with total population of 1,969. With regards to female population, top 5 age groups females were between 10 and 14 (2,303), between 5 and 9 (2,290), below 4 (1,929), between 15 and 19 (1,600), and between 25 and 29 (1,447), with total population of 9,569. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were above 75 (211), between 70 and 74 (231), between 65 and 69 (348),between 60 and 64 (497), and between 55 and 59 (546), with total population of 1,833.
The population with age-group above 75 had male to female ratio of 1.17, which states that this age group had maximum males as compared to females. Similarly, age-group 25 to 29 had most female population as compared to male population with male to female ratio of 0.92. The age-groups above 75, 15 to 19, 70 to 74, 45 to 49, 60 to 64, 10 to 14, 35 to 39, 65 to 69, 40 to 44, 20 to 24, 50 to 54, 55 to 59, 5 to 9, below 4 had majority of male population while age-groups 30 to 34, 25 to 29 had majority of female population as per male-female ratios. Moreover, age-groups had eqivalent or almost equal numbers of male and female population with male-female ratios of 1.

Population Ratios
There were 57.40 % (20,132 ) of independent population, the working age people between ages of 15 and 64 years. The dependent children, ages below 15 years, were 37.87 % with total number of 13,282. The dependent elderly population, aged 65 and above were 4.73 % with total number of 1,659. As such, total dependent population including children and elderly people were 42.60 with total number of 14,941
There were 8,264 women of child-bearing age-group of 15 to 49 years. Same as, the todlers or children of 4 years or below were 3,875. The ratio of woman of child-bearing age and the number of todlers state that, approximately 469 children were born per 1,000 women. Population by Language Spoken
Mostly spoken language in Dewanganj is Maithili, which is spoken by 28,743 people. The Dewanganj has people who speak other languages, such as Urdu, Uranw/Urau, Tharu, Nepali, Bhojpuri, Gurung, Santhali, Newar, Bangla, Tamang, Avadhi, etc.

According to 2011 census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Dewanganj Rural Municipality was inhabitted by mostly the people of Koiri/Kushwaha caste with total population of 9,598. There were as little as Gangai caste with population of as little as 12 in total. People of several other castes who live in Dewanganj are Yadav, Muslim, Gaderi/Bhedhar, Musahar, Jhangad/Dhagar, Dhanuk, Majhi, Mallaha, Bantar/Sardar, Badhaee, Sudhi, Tatma/Tatwa, Tharu, Teli, Chamar/Harijan/Ram, Kumhar, Kalwar, Khatwe, Dusadh/Pasawan/Pasi, Kewat, Marwadi, Haluwai, Pattharkatta/Kushwadiya, Hajam/Thakur, Amat, Kathbaniyan, Gurung, Kumal, Brahmin - Tarai, Brahmin - Hill, Sonar, Newar, Dhobi, Kayastha, Dom, Kamar, Satar/Santhal, Sanyasi/Dashnami, Bangali, Lohar, Kami, Chhetri, Terai Others, Undefined Others, Tamang, Sarki, Gangai, etc. Only the population of castes with above 1,000 population are illustrated in the table.
Top five castes of people in Dewanganj Rural Municipality are Koiri/Kushwaha (9,598), Yadav (6,297), Muslim (4,195), Gaderi/Bhedhar (1,225) and Musahar (1,093) with total population of 22,408, which forms 63.89 percent out of total population of 35,073 in Dewanganj Rural Municipality.Population by Disability
Similarly, there were 75 people who were blind and 42 people were deaf, while 9 people were both blind and deaf. Moreover, 72 persons had reported of having speech problems. Total 41 people had multiple disabilities.

Household Foundation
With respect to wall of the houses, 36 houses were mud bonded, 844 houses were cement bonded, 32 houses were wood planks bonded, 5,415 houses were bamboo bonded and 3 houses had unbaked bricks on their outer walls.Rest of the houses were reported of having other types of outer wall, while some of them reported nothing of having the outer wall bonding.
There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 763 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 5,349 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 11 houses had roof of tile, 186 houses had RCC roofs, 20 houses had roof of woods while 0 houses were reported having roof of mud. As per 2011 CBS census, some of the houses had other types of roofs while some didn't report about the roof structure.
With respect to the toilets, 4,916 out of 6,361 houses didn't report of having a private toilet for their households. Nevertheless, 715 houses were reported of having flush toilet while 717 houses reported having ordinary toilets.
Utilities
With reference to source of fuel, 957 households reported their source of fuel as firewood while 80 households had kerosene as their fuel source. The LP gas was used by 63 households as a source of fuel. Moreover, other sources of fuel were cow dung (5,231), bio-gas (13), fuel electricity (1), etc.
Same as, total 3,983 households had reported of having electricity as the source of their household's lighting. The households still using kerosene as source of light were 2,292, while 60 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.63.
Facilities
Economic Census
According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 863 establishments in Dewanganj Rural Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 1,928 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 1,375 and female engagement of 553 persons.In every business, there were an average of 2.23 people engaged with average males are 1.59 and females are 0.64. The ratio of male to female engagement in the establishments are 2.49, which means as many as 2.49 males are enagement in the economic activities per female.
Similarly, the engagement of males were 71.32 percent while the females are 28.68 percent.
