In 2017 election of Devtal Rural Municipality (Bara district), candidate Chandan Kumar Singh of Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RasJPN) secured 2,330 (28.69%) votes out of total votes of 8,122 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Udaya Prasad Yadav of Snghiy Samajbadi Form Nepal (SanSFN) who secured 1,942 (18.58%) of votes. The rest of 7 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 3,850 (23.70) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Rampati Devi of Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RasJPN) secured 2,153 (27.39%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Chandrakali Devi of Snghiy Samajbadi Form Nepal (SanSFN) secured 1,855 (18.53%) of votes and came in second position. Other 5 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 3,852 (24.50) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 219 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 134 (61.19%) males and 85 (38.81%) females. Moreover, there were total 47 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 7 wards. Same as, total 80 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 39 females and 37 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
