In 2017 election of Chulachuli Rural Municipality (Ilam district), candidate Pradeep Chandra Rai of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 3,493 (38.66%) votes out of total votes of 9,035 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Rajendra Kerung of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 3,149 (25.14%) of votes. The rest of 7 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 2,393 (13.24) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Nirmala Dahal of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 3,364 (38.14%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Laxmi Mishra of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,395 (19.66%) of votes and came in second position. Other 4 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 3,062 (17.36) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 159 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 99 (62.26%) males and 60 (37.74%) females. Moreover, there were total 30 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 6 wards. Same as, total 60 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 27 females and 27 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
