In 2017 election of Chhinnamasta Rural Municipality (Saptari district), candidate Surya Narayan Mandal Amat of Naya Shakti Party Nepal (NSPN) secured 2,805 (30.63%) votes out of total votes of 9,158 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Bimal Devi Yadav of Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RasJPN) who secured 1,385 (11.58%) of votes. The rest of 14 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 4,968 (27.12) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Usha Kumari Mandal of Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RasJPN) secured 1,710 (20.31%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Pramila Devi Shah of Naya Shakti Party Nepal (NSPN) secured 1,580 (15.60%) of votes and came in second position. Other 7 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 5,129 (30.46) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 288 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 173 (60.07%) males and 115 (39.93%) females. Moreover, there were total 62 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 7 wards. Same as, total 104 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 48 females and 49 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
