In 2017 election of Budhiganga Municipality (Bajura district), candidate Deepak Bikram Shah of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,845 (50.20%) votes out of total votes of 7,659 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Ram Bahadur Baniya of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 3,560 (30.95%) of votes. The rest of 3 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 254 (1.66) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Tara Devi Khati of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,760 (49.53%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Maya Kumari Khadka (kunwar) of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 3,528 (31.08%) of votes and came in second position. Other 1 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 304 (2.00) of votes.

Moreover, there were total 29 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 10 wards.
