In 2017 election of Bodebarsain Municipality (Saptari district), candidate Atesh Kumar Singh of Snghiy Samajbadi Form Nepal (SanSFN) secured 4,547 (31.09%) votes out of total votes of 14,623 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Amrendra Prasad Yadav of Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RasJPN) who secured 3,298 (17.20%) of votes. The rest of 11 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 6,778 (23.18) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Ranju Kumari Shah Teli of Snghiy Samajbadi Form Nepal (SanSFN) secured 3,721 (26.38%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Renu Kumari Shah of Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RasJPN) secured 3,630 (20.36%) of votes and came in second position. Other 8 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 6,753 (23.94) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 372 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 227 (61.02%) males and 145 (38.98%) females. Moreover, there were total 82 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 10 wards. Same as, total 135 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 67 females and 65 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
