In 2017 election of Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality (Dhading district), candidate Pitta Bahadur Dallakoti of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 6,410 (53.97%) votes out of total votes of 11,878 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Giri Raj Kandel of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 5,255 (28.73%) of votes. The rest of 7 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 213 (0.90) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Devi Prasad Silwal of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 5,302 (49.38%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Maya Devi Sharma of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 5,277 (32.90%) of votes and came in second position. Other 4 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 158 (0.74) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 192 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 121 (63.02%) males and 71 (36.98%) females. Moreover, there were total 46 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 10 wards. Same as, total 70 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 34 females and 27 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
