In 2017 election of Beni Municipality (Myagdi district), candidate Hari Kumar Shrestha of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 5,679 (48.79%) votes out of total votes of 11,639 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Pramod Shrestha of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 5,634 (32.53%) of votes. The rest of 4 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 326 (1.40) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Sanju Baruwal of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) secured 3,995 (48.16%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Jyoti Lamichhane Paudel of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 3,961 (32.23%) of votes and came in second position. Other 2 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 340 (2.05) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 153 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 94 (61.44%) males and 59 (38.56%) females. Moreover, there were total 30 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 10 wards. Same as, total 58 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 28 females and 27 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
