In 2017 election of Barpak Sulikot Rural Municipality (Gorkha district), candidate Bishnu Prasad Bhatt of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 4,659 (47.45%) votes out of total votes of 9,818 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Indra Kumar Gurung of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 3,022 (20.87%) of votes. The rest of 4 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 2,137 (10.88) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate San Maya Gurung of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 4,501 (47.74%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Janak Kumari Koirala of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,041 (21.83%) of votes and came in second position. Other 2 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 1,887 (10.01) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 158 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 99 (62.66%) males and 59 (37.34%) females. Moreover, there were total 32 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 8 wards. Same as, total 63 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 30 females and 23 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
