In 2017 election of Bardibas Municipality (Mahottari district), candidate Bidur Kumar Karki of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 9,187 (37.70%) votes out of total votes of 24,368 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Prahlad Kumar Chhetri of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 8,170 (24.35%) of votes. The rest of 11 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 7,011 (14.39) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Krishna Maya Gautam of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 8,835 (36.43%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Tara Devi of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 7,023 (21.22%) of votes and came in second position. Other 7 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 8,397 (17.31) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 308 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 187 (60.71%) males and 121 (39.29%) females. Moreover, there were total 64 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 14 wards. Same as, total 113 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 56 females and 53 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
