In 2017 election of Bardgoriya Rural Municipality (Kailali district), candidate Baliram Dangaura Tharu of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,741 (33.76%) votes out of total votes of 11,082 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Karna Bahadur Kunwar of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 3,547 (23.93%) of votes. The rest of 5 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 3,794 (17.12) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Bhagwati Devi Dangaura Tharu of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 3,913 (36.31%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Lalita Joshi (bhatt) of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,266 (22.23%) of votes and came in second position. Other 5 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 3,597 (16.69) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 159 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 86 (54.09%) males and 73 (45.91%) females. Moreover, there were total 31 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 6 wards. Same as, total 59 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 28 females and 27 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
