In 2017 election of Badimalika Municipality (Bajura district), candidate Padam Baduwal of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,940 (48.40%) votes out of total votes of 6,074 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Gagan Bahadur Rawal of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 2,902 (32.19%) of votes. The rest of 3 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 232 (1.91) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Kabita Kumari Budha (bista) of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,945 (48.68%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Gita Kumari Rawal of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,852 (31.71%) of votes and came in second position. Other 3 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 253 (2.09) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 135 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 83 (61.48%) males and 52 (38.52%) females. Moreover, there were total 31 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 9 wards. Same as, total 48 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 24 females and 22 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
