In 2017 election of Badigad Rural Municipality (Baglung district), candidate Mehar Singh Paija of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 4,851 (46.43%) votes out of total votes of 10,449 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Gandaki Thapa Adhikari of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 4,329 (28.29%) of votes. The rest of 2 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 1,269 (6.07) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Amma Bahadur Shrish of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 4,291 (55.92%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Rajiv Ghimire of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 2,059 (17.21%) of votes and came in second position. Other 2 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 1,323 (8.62) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 190 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 108 (56.84%) males and 82 (43.16%) females. Moreover, there were total 37 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 10 wards. Same as, total 71 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 37 females and 37 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
