In 2017 election of Amargadhi Municipality (Dadeldhura district), candidate Bisheshwor Prasad Ojha of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 3,768 (46.58%) votes out of total votes of 8,089 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Dilli Raj Joshi of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 3,640 (30.70%) of votes. The rest of 7 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 681 (4.21) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Sangeeta Kumari Bhandari of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 3,517 (44.05%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Parbati Devi Jhukal of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,279 (28.51%) of votes and came in second position. Other 4 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 1,188 (7.44) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 213 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 129 (60.56%) males and 84 (39.44%) females. Moreover, there were total 47 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 11 wards. Same as, total 79 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 34 females and 38 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
