In 2017 election of Aathbiskot Municipality (Rukum_W district), candidate Gorkha Bahadur K.c of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 5,489 (47.01%) votes out of total votes of 11,675 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Dhirendra Kumar Batala of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 3,596 (20.95%) of votes. The rest of 3 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 2,590 (11.09) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Geeta Nepali of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 5,618 (48.06%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Anita Budha of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,187 (18.41%) of votes and came in second position. Other 3 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 2,885 (12.34) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 215 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 130 (60.47%) males and 85 (39.53%) females. Moreover, there were total 46 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 14 wards. Same as, total 82 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 40 females and 37 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
