In 2017 election of Aalital Rural Municipality (Dadeldhura district), candidate Bal Bahadur Gurung of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,261 (36.26%) votes out of total votes of 6,236 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Jagat Bahadur Parki of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) who secured 2,098 (24.69%) of votes. The rest of 3 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 1,877 (15.05) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Jala Kumari Bista (bogati) of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,242 (36.55%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Sushila Devi Khatri of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 1,994 (23.81%) of votes and came in second position. Other 1 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 1,898 (15.47) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 129 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 76 (58.91%) males and 53 (41.09%) females. Moreover, there were total 25 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 8 wards. Same as, total 49 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 24 females and 23 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
