In 2017 election of Aadarsha Kotwal Rural Municipality (Bara district), candidate Mustafa Ansari of Snghiy Samajbadi Form Nepal (SanSFN) secured 2,782 (30.30%) votes out of total votes of 9,182 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Jawahar Prasad of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 2,390 (19.98%) of votes. The rest of 7 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 4,010 (21.84) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Punam Devi of Snghiy Samajbadi Form Nepal (SanSFN) secured 2,075 (24.14%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Mina Devi Yadav of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,025 (18.98%) of votes and came in second position. Other 7 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 4,495 (26.15) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 235 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 145 (61.70%) males and 90 (38.30%) females. Moreover, there were total 51 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 8 wards. Same as, total 87 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 41 females and 38 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
