Shailyashikhar is a Municipality, which is located in Darchula district, Sudurpashchim Province of Nepal. Shailyashikhar has total 9 wards, which are scattered across 118 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Shailyashikhar Municipality had total population of 22,060.
Wardwise Population and Households
As per 2011 population census, Shailyashikhar Municipality had total 22,060 population with 10,471 males and 11,589 females. Out of total wards, ward number 9 had the largest population 3,667, while ward number 3 had least number of population with 3,667.
With respect to number of households, Shailyashikhar Municipality had total 4,021 households. The ward number 9 had most households with total 701, while ward number 3 had least number of households with total 266 number of households.

Gender wise, there were 1,558 males and 1,539 females of the same age group. The least populated age group was between 70 and 74 with total 322 population, which consistes of 162 males and 160 females. There were only 12,486 people fully literate in Shailyashikhar Municipality as of 2011 who were able to both read and write, while 528 people were able to read but not write. In percentage while compared to genderwise population, there were inf percent of male were literate, while the percentage of female literacy was inf only.The literacy ratio between male and female population was nan.
Out of total 6,683 population between the age of 5 and 25 as of 2011 in Shailyashikhar Municipality, total 3,319 males and 3,364 females were attending the school. Same as, out of total 2,647 population of the same age group who were not attending the school, total 959 male and 1,688 female were not attending teh school. The ratio of male and female who were going to school was 0.99 while the ratio for those who were not attending the school was 0.57.The CBS census also states that 90 males and 86 females did not state whether they were attending school or not.

According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 8,614 in Shailyashikhar Municipality with 4,159 (48.28%) of males and 4,455 (51.72%) females. There were total 54 schools. In average, 160 students were studying in each school.

Population by Language Spoken
Mostly spoken language in Shailyashikhar is Doteli, which is spoken by 21,756 people. The Shailyashikhar has people who speak other languages, such as Nepali, Maithili, Chinese, Urdu, etc.

There were as little as Muslim caste with population of as little as 12 in total. People of several other castes who live in Shailyashikhar are Brahmin - Hill, Kami, Lohar, Thakuri, Dalit Others, Damai/Dholi, Sanyasi/Dashnami, Sarki, Badi, Thami, Magar, Terai Others, Sherpa, Muslim, etc. Only the population of castes with above 1,000 population are illustrated in the table.

Out of total 4021 households in Shailyashikhar Municipality, there were 3,712 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 244 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 3 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 9houses were founded on wood.
With respect to wall of the houses, 3,159 houses were mud bonded, 662 houses were cement bonded, 30 houses were wood planks bonded, 2 houses were bamboo bonded and 2 houses had unbaked bricks on their outer walls.Rest of the houses were reported of having other types of outer wall, while some of them reported nothing of having the outer wall bonding.
There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 35 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 60 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 3,726 houses had roof of tile, 143 houses had RCC roofs, 2 houses had roof of woods while 2 houses were reported having roof of mud. out of 4,021 households in Shailyashikhar Municipality, 959 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 2,930 households reported of using at least one facility. Economic Census
According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 524 establishments in Shailyashikhar Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 1,510 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 1,245 and female engagement of 265 persons.In every business, there were an average of 2.88 people engaged with average males are 2.38 and females are 0.51. The ratio of male to female engagement in the establishments are 4.70, which means as many as 4.70 males are enagement in the economic activities per female.
Similarly, the engagement of males were 82.45 percent while the females are 17.55 percent.
