Madhuwan is a Municipality, which is located in Bardiya district, Province No. 5 of Nepal. Madhuwan has total 9 wards, which are scattered across 130 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Madhuwan Municipality had total population of 46,437.
Wardwise Population and Households
As per 2011 population census, Madhuwan Municipality had total 46,437 population with 21,503 males and 24,934 females. Out of total wards, ward number 4 had the largest population 5,908, while ward number 3 had least number of population with 5,908.
With respect to number of households, Madhuwan Municipality had total 9,569 households. The ward number 8 had most households with total 1,283, while ward number 2 had least number of households with total 788 number of households.

There were only 28,419 people fully literate in Madhuwan Municipality as of 2011 who were able to both read and write, while 654 people were able to read but not write. In percentage while compared to genderwise population, there were inf percent of male were literate, while the percentage of female literacy was inf only.The literacy ratio between male and female population was nan.
Out of total 14,888 population between the age of 5 and 25 as of 2011 in Madhuwan Municipality, total 7,335 males and 7,553 females were attending the school. Same as, out of total 5,664 population of the same age group who were not attending the school, total 2,094 male and 3,570 female were not attending teh school. The ratio of male and female who were going to school was 0.97 while the ratio for those who were not attending the school was 0.59.The CBS census also states that 67 males and 90 females did not state whether they were attending school or not.

According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 14,542 in Madhuwan Municipality with 6,980 (48.00%) of males and 7,562 (52.00%) females. There were total 41 schools. In average, 355 students were studying in each school.

There were as little as Ghale caste with population of as little as 11 in total. People of several other castes who live in Madhuwan are Chhetri, Kami, Brahmin - Hill, Magar, Gurung, Thakuri, Damai/Dholi, Sarki, Tamang, Newar, Sanyasi/Dashnami, Raji, Muslim, Badi, Gaine, Kumal, Kalwar, Terai Others, Lohar, Majhi, Yadav, Brahmin - Tarai, Undefined Others, Teli, Bote, Haluwai, Dhobi, Ghale, etc. Only the population of castes with above 1,000 population are illustrated in the table.

Household Foundation
Out of total 9569 households in Madhuwan Municipality, there were 2,827 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 1,650 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 232 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 4,662houses were founded on wood.
With respect to wall of the houses, 2,912 houses were mud bonded, 1,934 houses were cement bonded, 676 houses were wood planks bonded, 1,494 houses were bamboo bonded and 631 houses had unbaked bricks on their outer walls.Rest of the houses were reported of having other types of outer wall, while some of them reported nothing of having the outer wall bonding.

Same as, total 5,890 households had reported of having electricity as the source of their household's lighting. The households still using kerosene as source of light were 631, while 827 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.62.

out of 9,569 households in Madhuwan Municipality, 556 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 8,907 households reported of using at least one facility. Economic Census
According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 2,026 establishments in Madhuwan Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 4,700 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 2,623 and female engagement of 2,077 persons.In every business, there were an average of 2.32 people engaged with average males are 1.29 and females are 1.03. The ratio of male to female engagement in the establishments are 1.26, which means as many as 1.26 males are enagement in the economic activities per female.
Similarly, the engagement of males were 55.81 percent while the females are 44.19 percent.
