Ruru is a Rural Municipality, which is located in Gulmi district, Province No. 5 of Nepal. Ruru has total 6 wards, which are scattered across 67 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Ruru Rural Municipality had total population of 18,581.
Wardwise Population and Households
As per 2011 population census, Ruru Rural Municipality had total 18,581 population with 7,892 males and 10,689 females. Out of total wards, ward number 4 had the largest population 4,210, while ward number 6 had least number of population with 4,210.
With respect to number of households, Ruru Rural Municipality had total 4,703 households. The ward number 4 had most households with total 1,092, while ward number 6 had least number of households with total 562 number of households.
As illustrated in the chart, the ratio of male to female population was 0.74, which indicates that Ruru Rural Municipality had 26 percent lower males as compared to the females. In terms of age, the largest population in Ruru Rural Municipality were between 10 and 14 years of age with total 2,567. Gender wise, there were 1,248 males and 1,319 females of the same age group. The least populated age group was between 70 and 74 with total 432 population, which consistes of 235 males and 197 females. Literacy, Education Levels & Schooling
There were only 12,784 people fully literate in Ruru Rural Municipality as of 2011 who were able to both read and write, while 401 people were able to read but not write. In percentage while compared to genderwise population, there were inf percent of male were literate, while the percentage of female literacy was inf only.The literacy ratio between male and female population was nan.
Out of total 5,711 population between the age of 5 and 25 as of 2011 in Ruru Rural Municipality, total 2,753 males and 2,958 females were attending the school. Same as, out of total 1,463 population of the same age group who were not attending the school, total 413 male and 1,050 female were not attending teh school. The ratio of male and female who were going to school was 0.93 while the ratio for those who were not attending the school was 0.39.The CBS census also states that 19 males and 32 females did not state whether they were attending school or not.

According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 9,788 in Ruru Rural Municipality with 4,876 (49.82%) of males and 4,912 (50.18%) females. There were total 53 schools. In average, 185 students were studying in each school.

Population by Language Spoken
Mostly spoken language in Ruru is Nepali, which is spoken by 17,259 people. The Ruru has people who speak other languages, such as Newar, Bote, Magar, Hindi, Gurung, Majhi, Maithili, Urdu, etc.

According to 2011 census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Ruru Rural Municipality was inhabitted by mostly the people of Brahmin - Hill caste with total population of 6,564. There were as little as Rai caste with population of as little as 15 in total. People of several other castes who live in Ruru are Magar, Kami, Chhetri, Newar, Sarki, Sanyasi/Dashnami, Damai/Dholi, Bote, Thakuri, Gharti/Bhujel, Gaine, Badi, Gurung, Kumal, Muslim, Majhi, Tharu, Rai, etc. Only the population of castes with above 1,000 population are illustrated in the table.

Household Foundation
Out of total 4703 households in Ruru Rural Municipality, there were 4,272 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 81 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 163 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 172houses were founded on wood.
With respect to wall of the houses, 4,226 houses were mud bonded, 281 houses were cement bonded, 11 houses were wood planks bonded, 169 houses were bamboo bonded and 0 houses had unbaked bricks on their outer walls.Rest of the houses were reported of having other types of outer wall, while some of them reported nothing of having the outer wall bonding.
There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 834 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 3,635 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 32 houses had roof of tile, 179 houses had RCC roofs, 1 houses had roof of woods while 0 houses were reported having roof of mud. As per 2011 CBS census, some of the houses had other types of roofs while some didn't report about the roof structure.
With respect to the toilets, 727 out of 4,703 houses didn't report of having a private toilet for their households. Nevertheless, 2,667 houses were reported of having flush toilet while 1,297 houses reported having ordinary toilets.

With reference to source of fuel, 4,341 households reported their source of fuel as firewood while 12 households had kerosene as their fuel source. The LP gas was used by 310 households as a source of fuel. Moreover, other sources of fuel were cow dung (1), bio-gas (22), fuel electricity (1), etc.
Same as, total 3,884 households had reported of having electricity as the source of their household's lighting. The households still using kerosene as source of light were 696, while 103 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.83.
With reference to source of fuel, 4,341 households reported their source of fuel as firewood while 12 households had kerosene as their fuel source. The LP gas was used by 310 households as a source of fuel. Moreover, other sources of fuel were cow dung (1), bio-gas (22), fuel electricity (1), etc.
Same as, total 3,884 households had reported of having electricity as the source of their household's lighting. The households still using kerosene as source of light were 696, while 103 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.83.
Facilities
out of 4,703 households in Ruru Rural Municipality, 482 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 4,170 households reported of using at least one facility. Households using at least one facility, such as radio, television, internet, etc. have been illustrated in the table below.MobilePhone was used by the maximum households with total users of 3,746, while Radio was the next mostly used facilities with total household users of 3,365.
Economic Census
According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 931 establishments in Ruru Rural Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 2,299 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 1,255 and female engagement of 1,044 persons.In every business, there were an average of 2.47 people engaged with average males are 1.35 and females are 1.12. The ratio of male to female engagement in the establishments are 1.20, which means as many as 1.20 males are enagement in the economic activities per female.
Similarly, the engagement of males were 54.59 percent while the females are 45.41 percent.
