Galkot is a Municipality, which is located in Baglung district, Gandaki Province of Nepal. Galkot has total 11 wards, which are scattered across 194 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Galkot Municipality had total population of 33,097.
Wardwise Population and Households
As per 2011 population census, Galkot Municipality had total 33,097 population with 14,273 males and 18,824 females. Out of total wards, ward number 3 had the largest population 4,601, while ward number 6 had least number of population with 4,601.
With respect to number of households, Galkot Municipality had total 7,711 households. The ward number 3 had most households with total 1,098, while ward number 7 had least number of households with total 526 number of households.
As illustrated in the chart, the ratio of male to female population was 0.76, which indicates that Galkot Municipality had 24 percent lower males as compared to the females. Same as, the population to household ratio was 4.29, which means that in average 4.29 family members lived in each household.

There were 57.98 % (19,189 ) of independent population, the working age people between ages of 15 and 64 years. The dependent children, ages below 15 years, were 34.19 % with total number of 11,317. The dependent elderly population, aged 65 and above were 7.83 % with total number of 2,591. There were 9,675 women of child-bearing age-group of 15 to 49 years. Same as, the todlers or children of 4 years or below were 3,093. There were only 21,957 people fully literate in Galkot Municipality as of 2011 who were able to both read and write, while 872 people were able to read but not write. In percentage while compared to genderwise population, there were inf percent of male were literate, while the percentage of female literacy was inf only.The literacy ratio between male and female population was nan.
Out of total 10,185 population between the age of 5 and 25 as of 2011 in Galkot Municipality, total 4,975 males and 5,210 females were attending the school. Same as, out of total 2,513 population of the same age group who were not attending the school, total 812 male and 1,701 female were not attending teh school. The ratio of male and female who were going to school was 0.95 while the ratio for those who were not attending the school was 0.48.The CBS census also states that 85 males and 118 females did not state whether they were attending school or not.

According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 21,378 in Galkot Municipality with 10,700 (50.05%) of males and 10,678 (49.95%) females. There were total 82 schools. In average, 261 students were studying in each school.

Population by Language Spoken
Mostly spoken language in Galkot is Nepali, which is spoken by 31,242 people. The Galkot has people who speak other languages, such as Magar, Kumal, Gurung, Newar, Bhojpuri, Tamang, Maithili, Bhujel, Urdu, etc.

There were as little as Majhi caste with population of as little as 11 in total. People of several other castes who live in Galkot are Magar, Brahmin - Hill, Kami, Damai/Dholi, Sarki, Thakuri, Kumal, Gurung, Newar, Muslim, Gaine, Thakali, Gharti/Bhujel, Tamang, Chhantyal/Chhantel, Limbu, Kanu, Tharu, Ghale, Undefined Others, Majhi, etc. Only the population of castes with above 1,000 population are illustrated in the table.

Out of total 7711 households in Galkot Municipality, there were 7,378 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 99 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 106 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 77houses were founded on wood.
With respect to wall of the houses, 7,221 houses were mud bonded, 324 houses were cement bonded, 88 houses were wood planks bonded, 20 houses were bamboo bonded and 0 houses had unbaked bricks on their outer walls.Rest of the houses were reported of having other types of outer wall, while some of them reported nothing of having the outer wall bonding.

out of 7,711 households in Galkot Municipality, 689 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 6,920 households reported of using at least one facility. Economic Census
According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 1,137 establishments in Galkot Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 4,159 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 2,257 and female engagement of 1,902 persons.In every business, there were an average of 3.66 people engaged with average males are 1.99 and females are 1.67. The ratio of male to female engagement in the establishments are 1.19, which means as many as 1.19 males are enagement in the economic activities per female.
Similarly, the engagement of males were 54.27 percent while the females are 45.73 percent.
