Bhanu is a Municipality, which is located in Tanahun district, Gandaki Province of Nepal. Bhanu has total 13 wards, which are scattered across 184 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Bhanu Municipality had total population of 45,792.
Wardwise Population and Households
As per 2011 population census, Bhanu Municipality had total 45,792 population with 19,661 males and 26,131 females. Out of total wards, ward number 11 had the largest population 4,264, while ward number 2 had least number of population with 4,264.
With respect to number of households, Bhanu Municipality had total 12,095 households. The ward number 11 had most households with total 1,125, while ward number 2 had least number of households with total 806 number of households.
As illustrated in the chart, the ratio of male to female population was 0.75, which indicates that Bhanu Municipality had 25 percent lower males as compared to the females. Same as, the population to household ratio was 3.79, which means that in average 3.79 family members lived in each household.
Absentee Population
As of 2011, 6,414 population in Bhanu Municipality were absent from their households, which equals to 14.01 percent of the total population. In terms of age, the largest population in Bhanu Municipality were between 10 and 14 years of age with total 5,920. Gender wise, there were 2,902 males and 3,018 females of the same age group. The least populated age group was between 70 and 74 with total 1,120 population, which consistes of 578 males and 542 females. Similarly, age-group 25 to 29 had most female population as compared to male population with male to female ratio of 0.43. The dependent elderly population, aged 65 and above were 9.04 % with total number of 4,141. There were 13,296 women of child-bearing age-group of 15 to 49 years. Same as, the todlers or children of 4 years or below were 3,687. Literacy, Education Levels & Schooling
There were only 30,641 people fully literate in Bhanu Municipality as of 2011 who were able to both read and write, while 705 people were able to read but not write. In percentage while compared to genderwise population, there were inf percent of male were literate, while the percentage of female literacy was inf only.The literacy ratio between male and female population was nan.
Out of total 12,932 population between the age of 5 and 25 as of 2011 in Bhanu Municipality, total 6,380 males and 6,552 females were attending the school. Same as, out of total 4,237 population of the same age group who were not attending the school, total 1,368 male and 2,869 female were not attending teh school. The ratio of male and female who were going to school was 0.97 while the ratio for those who were not attending the school was 0.48.The CBS census also states that 284 males and 420 females did not state whether they were attending school or not.
Grade 1-12 Students & Schools
According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 21,544 in Bhanu Municipality with 10,535 (48.90%) of males and 11,009 (51.10%) females. There were total 92 schools. In average, 234 students were studying in each school.

Population by Language Spoken
Mostly spoken language in Bhanu is Nepali, which is spoken by 37,367 people. The Bhanu has people who speak other languages, such as Gurung, Newar, Tamang, Urdu, Magar, Kumal, Bhojpuri, Hindi, Rai, Maithili, Musalman, Darai, etc.

According to 2011 census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Bhanu Municipality was inhabitted by mostly the people of Chhetri caste with total population of 11,665. There were as little as Koiri/Kushwaha caste with population of as little as 12 in total. People of several other castes who live in Bhanu are Brahmin - Hill, Gurung, Newar, Magar, Sarki, Kami, Tamang, Damai/Dholi, Kumal, Muslim, Gharti/Bhujel, Badi, Thakuri, Gaine, Sanyasi/Dashnami, Majhi, Ghale, Bote, Rai, Yadav, Dura, Dalit Others, Kamar, Kurmi, Hajam/Thakur, Darai, Terai Others, Khawas, Undefined Others, Kayastha, Mallaha, Teli, Sonar, Tharu, Koiri/Kushwaha, etc. Only the population of castes with above 1,000 population are illustrated in the table.
Top five castes of people in Bhanu Municipality are Chhetri (11,665), Brahmin - Hill (5,408), Gurung (5,221), Newar (4,729) and Magar (3,047) with total population of 30,070, which forms 65.67 percent out of total population of 45,792 in Bhanu Municipality.Population by Disability
Out of total population of 45,792, there were total 1,055 (2.30%) disabled persons in Bhanu Municipality with 566 (53.65%) males and 489 (46.35%) females. The physically disabled persons were 385, while mentally disabled people were 59 and intellectually disabled were 23.
Similarly, there were 178 people who were blind and 165 people were deaf, while 19 people were both blind and deaf. Moreover, 140 persons had reported of having speech problems. Total 86 people had multiple disabilities.

Household Foundation
Out of total 12095 households in Bhanu Municipality, there were 10,525 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 853 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 290 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 300houses were founded on wood.
With respect to wall of the houses, 9,699 houses were mud bonded, 1,876 houses were cement bonded, 170 houses were wood planks bonded, 212 houses were bamboo bonded and 3 houses had unbaked bricks on their outer walls.Rest of the houses were reported of having other types of outer wall, while some of them reported nothing of having the outer wall bonding.

Similarly, 1,816 houses had roof of tile, 782 houses had RCC roofs, 10 houses had roof of woods while 0 houses were reported having roof of mud. The LP gas was used by 1,293 households as a source of fuel. Moreover, other sources of fuel were cow dung (40), bio-gas (2,064), fuel electricity (20), etc.
Same as, total 10,933 households had reported of having electricity as the source of their household's lighting. The households still using kerosene as source of light were 1,006, while 18 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.90.

out of 12,095 households in Bhanu Municipality, 1,250 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 10,558 households reported of using at least one facility. Households using at least one facility, such as radio, television, internet, etc. have been illustrated in the table below.MobilePhone was used by the maximum households with total users of 8,994, while Radio was the next mostly used facilities with total household users of 6,913.
Economic Census
According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 1,352 establishments in Bhanu Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 3,112 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 1,599 and female engagement of 1,513 persons.In every business, there were an average of 2.30 people engaged with average males are 1.18 and females are 1.12. The ratio of male to female engagement in the establishments are 1.06, which means as many as 1.06 males are enagement in the economic activities per female.
Similarly, the engagement of males were 51.38 percent while the females are 48.62 percent.
