Gandaki is a Rural Municipality, which is located in Gorkha district, Gandaki Province of Nepal. Gandaki has total 8 wards, which are scattered across 124 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Gandaki Rural Municipality had total population of 23,253.
Wardwise Population and Households
As per 2011 population census, Gandaki Rural Municipality had total 23,253 population with 10,559 males and 12,694 females. Out of total wards, ward number 6 had the largest population 3,545, while ward number 3 had least number of population with 3,545.
With respect to number of households, Gandaki Rural Municipality had total 5,253 households. The ward number 2 had most households with total 802, while ward number 3 had least number of households with total 551 number of households.
As illustrated in the chart, the ratio of male to female population was 0.83, which indicates that Gandaki Rural Municipality had 17 percent lower males as compared to the females. Same as, the population to household ratio was 4.43, which means that in average 4.43 family members lived in each household.
Absentee Population
As of 2011, 1,765 population in Gandaki Rural Municipality were absent from their households, which equals to 7.59 percent of the total population. In terms of age, the largest population in Gandaki Rural Municipality were between 10 and 14 years of age with total 3,496. Gender wise, there were 1,690 males and 1,806 females of the same age group. The least populated age group was between 70 and 74 with total 545 population, which consistes of 284 males and 261 females. Top 5 most populated age groups were between 10 and 14 (3,496), between 15 and 19 (2,769), between 5 and 9 (2,657), below 4 (1,813), between 20 and 24 (1,439) with total population of 12,174. The population with age-group 70 to 74 had male to female ratio of 1.09, which states that this age group had maximum males as compared to females. Similarly, age-group 25 to 29 had most female population as compared to male population with male to female ratio of 0.53. The age-groups 70 to 74, 50 to 54, 55 to 59, below 4 had majority of male population while age-groups 5 to 9, 10 to 14, 60 to 64, 15 to 19, 45 to 49, 40 to 44, 30 to 34, 35 to 39, 20 to 24, 25 to 29 had majority of female population as per male-female ratios. Literacy, Education Levels & Schooling
There were only 14,041 people fully literate in Gandaki Rural Municipality as of 2011 who were able to both read and write, while 490 people were able to read but not write. In percentage while compared to genderwise population, there were inf percent of male were literate, while the percentage of female literacy was inf only.The literacy ratio between male and female population was nan.
Out of total 7,593 population between the age of 5 and 25 as of 2011 in Gandaki Rural Municipality, total 3,637 males and 3,956 females were attending the school. Same as, out of total 2,149 population of the same age group who were not attending the school, total 796 male and 1,353 female were not attending teh school. The ratio of male and female who were going to school was 0.92 while the ratio for those who were not attending the school was 0.59.The CBS census also states that 48 males and 72 females did not state whether they were attending school or not.
Grade 1-12 Students & Schools
According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 7,161 in Gandaki Rural Municipality with 3,448 (48.15%) of males and 3,713 (51.85%) females. There were total 50 schools. In average, 143 students were studying in each school.

Population by Language Spoken
Mostly spoken language in Gandaki is Nepali, which is spoken by 17,616 people. The Gandaki has people who speak other languages, such as Magar, Chepang, Gurung, Newar, Urdu, etc.

According to 2011 census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Gandaki Rural Municipality was inhabitted by mostly the people of Magar caste with total population of 4,464. There were as little as Tamang caste with population of as little as 23 in total. People of several other castes who live in Gandaki are Brahmin - Hill, Newar, Chepang/Praja, Gurung, Sarki, Chhetri, Kami, Damai/Dholi, Gharti/Bhujel, Brahmu/Baramo, Majhi, Muslim, Kumal, Sanyasi/Dashnami, Tamang, etc. Only the population of castes with above 1,000 population are illustrated in the table.

Out of total population of 23,253, there were total 469 (2.02%) disabled persons in Gandaki Rural Municipality with 255 (54.37%) males and 214 (45.63%) females. The physically disabled persons were 161, while mentally disabled people were 37 and intellectually disabled were 18.
Similarly, there were 77 people who were blind and 97 people were deaf, while 12 people were both blind and deaf. Moreover, 55 persons had reported of having speech problems. Total 12 people had multiple disabilities.

Household Foundation
Out of total 5253 households in Gandaki Rural Municipality, there were 4,863 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 132 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 10 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 223houses were founded on wood.
With respect to wall of the houses, 4,933 houses were mud bonded, 204 houses were cement bonded, 61 houses were wood planks bonded, 30 houses were bamboo bonded and 1 houses had unbaked bricks on their outer walls.Rest of the houses were reported of having other types of outer wall, while some of them reported nothing of having the outer wall bonding.
There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 938 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 3,732 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 524 houses had roof of tile, 19 houses had RCC roofs, 3 houses had roof of woods while 0 houses were reported having roof of mud. As per 2011 CBS census, some of the houses had other types of roofs while some didn't report about the roof structure.
With respect to the toilets, 1,264 out of 5,253 houses didn't report of having a private toilet for their households. Nevertheless, 2,072 houses were reported of having flush toilet while 1,897 houses reported having ordinary toilets.

With reference to source of fuel, 4,713 households reported their source of fuel as firewood while 18 households had kerosene as their fuel source. The LP gas was used by 195 households as a source of fuel. Moreover, other sources of fuel were cow dung (1), bio-gas (289), fuel electricity (15), etc.
Same as, total 4,375 households had reported of having electricity as the source of their household's lighting. The households still using kerosene as source of light were 654, while 104 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.83.

Facilities
out of 5,253 households in Gandaki Rural Municipality, 816 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 4,311 households reported of using at least one facility. Households using at least one facility, such as radio, television, internet, etc. have been illustrated in the table below.Radio was used by the maximum households with total users of 3,406, while MobilePhone was the next mostly used facilities with total household users of 2,955.
Economic Census
According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 849 establishments in Gandaki Rural Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 2,596 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 1,314 and female engagement of 1,282 persons.In every business, there were an average of 3.06 people engaged with average males are 1.55 and females are 1.51. The ratio of male to female engagement in the establishments are 1.02, which means as many as 1.02 males are enagement in the economic activities per female.
Similarly, the engagement of males were 50.62 percent while the females are 49.38 percent.
