Wardwise Population and Households
As per 2011 population census, Kathmandu Metropolitan City had total 975,453 population with 511,841 males and 463,612 females. Out of total wards, ward number 16 had the largest population 84,441, while ward number 24 had least number of population with 84,441.
With respect to number of households, Kathmandu Metropolitan City had total 254,292 households. The ward number 16 had most households with total 22,715, while ward number 24 had least number of households with total 1,735 number of households.
As illustrated in the chart, the ratio of male to female population was 1.10, which indicates that Kathmandu Metropolitan City had -10 percent lower males as compared to the females. Same as, the population to household ratio was 3.84, which means that in average 3.84 family members lived in each household.
Absentee Population
As illustrated in the charts, the ratio of absentee population was 14.72, while male to female absentee population ratio was 2.26. Same as, the household ratio of present vs. absent population was 5.13.
Population by Age Group
Gender wise, top 5 most age groups male population were between 20 and 24 (69,397), between 15 and 19 (61,213), between 25 and 29 (56,154), between 30 and 34 (47,784), and between 10 and 14 (44,627), with total population of 279,175. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were between 70 and 74 (4,817), above 75 (6,137), between 65 and 69 (7,245),between 60 and 64 (10,171), and between 55 and 59 (13,759), with total population of 42,129. With regards to female population, top 5 age groups females were between 20 and 24 (62,210), between 25 and 29 (56,798), between 15 and 19 (48,679), between 30 and 34 (45,432), and between 10 and 14 (40,553), with total population of 253,672. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were between 70 and 74 (5,666), between 65 and 69 (7,725), above 75 (8,682),between 60 and 64 (10,212), and between 55 and 59 (12,217), with total population of 44,502.
The population with age-group 15 to 19 had male to female ratio of 1.26, which states that this age group had maximum males as compared to females. Similarly, age-group above 75 had most female population as compared to male population with male to female ratio of 0.71. The age-groups 15 to 19, 40 to 44, 45 to 49, 50 to 54, 5 to 9, below 4, 55 to 59, 20 to 24, 10 to 14, 35 to 39, 30 to 34 had majority of male population while age-groups 25 to 29, 65 to 69, 70 to 74, above 75 had majority of female population as per male-female ratios. Moreover, age-groups 60 to 64 had eqivalent or almost equal numbers of male and female population with male-female ratios of 1.

Population Ratios
There were 73.51 % (717,098 ) of independent population, the working age people between ages of 15 and 64 years. The dependent children, ages below 15 years, were 22.36 % with total number of 218,083. The dependent elderly population, aged 65 and above were 4.13 % with total number of 40,272. As such, total dependent population including children and elderly people were 26.49 with total number of 258,355
There were 299,891 women of child-bearing age-group of 15 to 49 years. Same as, the todlers or children of 4 years or below were 59,910. The ratio of woman of child-bearing age and the number of todlers state that, approximately 200 children were born per 1,000 women. This number is also roughly used as fertility levels when direct measures of births are not available.

Population by Language Spoken
Mostly spoken language in Kathmandu is Nepali, which is spoken by 597,570 people. The Kathmandu has people who speak other languages, such as Newar, Tamang, Maithili, Hindi, Bhojpuri, Gurung, Magar, Sherpa, Rai, Tharu, Rajsthani, Urdu, Limbu, Bangla, Doteli, Tibetan, Sunuwar, Thakali, Chamling, Hyolmo/Yholmo, Bantawa, English, Avadhi, Manange, Rajbanshi, Oriya, Ghale, Thami, Thulung, Majhi, Danuwar, Jirel, Dhimal, Bajjika, Bahing, Kulung, Yakkha, Sign Language, Baitadeli, Punjabi, Santhali, Kumal, Khaling, Wambule, Achhami, Chepang, Dumi, Chhantyal, Bhujel, Chinese, Bajhangi, Sampang, Kham, Sanskrit, Darai, Bote, Assami, Uranw/Urau, Tajpuriya, Nachhiring, Khash, Lhomi, Lohorung, Dura, Magahi, Belhare, Hayu/Vayu, Lapcha, Athpariya, French, Yamphu/Yamphe, etc.

According to 2011 census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Kathmandu Metropolitan City was inhabitted by mostly the people of Newar caste with total population of 241,131. There were as little as Yamphu caste with population of as little as 11 in total. Top five castes of people in Kathmandu Metropolitan City are Newar (241,131), Brahmin - Hill (238,590), Chhetri (175,889), Tamang (76,066) and Magar (36,761) with total population of 768,437, which forms 78.78 percent out of total population of 975,453 in Kathmandu Metropolitan City.Population by Disability
Similarly, there were 1,996 people who were blind and 1,188 people were deaf, while 157 people were both blind and deaf. Moreover, 909 persons had reported of having speech problems. Total 503 people had multiple disabilities.

Household Foundation
With respect to wall of the houses, 30,040 houses were mud bonded, 212,587 houses were cement bonded, 1,576 houses were wood planks bonded, 2,089 houses were bamboo bonded and 307 houses had unbaked bricks on their outer walls.Rest of the houses were reported of having other types of outer wall, while some of them reported nothing of having the outer wall bonding.
There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 875 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 37,317 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 2,614 houses had roof of tile, 204,824 houses had RCC roofs, 658 houses had roof of woods while 27 houses were reported having roof of mud. As per 2011 CBS census, some of the houses had other types of roofs while some didn't report about the roof structure.
With respect to the toilets, 545 out of 254,292 houses didn't report of having a private toilet for their households. Nevertheless, 234,299 houses were reported of having flush toilet while 17,274 houses reported having ordinary toilets.
Utilities
With reference to source of fuel, 4,439 households reported their source of fuel as firewood while 7,541 households had kerosene as their fuel source. The LP gas was used by 239,297 households as a source of fuel. Moreover, other sources of fuel were cow dung (82), bio-gas (40), fuel electricity (142), etc.
Same as, total 249,949 households had reported of having electricity as the source of their household's lighting. The households still using kerosene as source of light were 747, while 105 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.98.
