Meringden is a Rural Municipality, which is located in Taplejung district, Province No. 1 of Nepal. Meringden has total 6 wards, which are scattered across 210 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Meringden Rural Municipality had total population of 12,548.
Wardwise Population and Households
As per 2011 population census, Meringden Rural Municipality had total 12,548 population with 5,809 males and 6,739 females. Out of total wards, ward number 2 had the largest population 2,594, while ward number 3 had least number of population with 2,594.
With respect to number of households, Meringden Rural Municipality had total 2,578 households. The ward number 2 had most households with total 533, while ward number 3 had least number of households with total 319 number of households.

In terms of age, the largest population in Meringden Rural Municipality were between 10 and 14 years of age with total 1,848. Gender wise, there were 881 males and 967 females of the same age group. The least populated age group was between 70 and 74 with total 191 population, which consistes of 100 males and 91 females. Literacy, Education Levels & Schooling
There were only 6,714 people fully literate in Meringden Rural Municipality as of 2011 who were able to both read and write, while 401 people were able to read but not write. In percentage while compared to genderwise population, there were inf percent of male were literate, while the percentage of female literacy was inf only.The literacy ratio between male and female population was nan.
Out of total 4,262 population between the age of 5 and 25 as of 2011 in Meringden Rural Municipality, total 2,021 males and 2,241 females were attending the school. Same as, out of total 1,525 population of the same age group who were not attending the school, total 661 male and 864 female were not attending teh school. According to 2011 census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Meringden Rural Municipality was inhabitted by mostly the people of Limbu caste with total population of 7,106. There were as little as Rai caste with population of as little as 27 in total. People of several other castes who live in Meringden are Sherpa, Kami, Bhote, Tamang, Sanyasi/Dashnami, Brahmin - Hill, Chhetri, Damai/Dholi, Newar, Magar, Rai, etc. Only the population of castes with above 1,000 population are illustrated in the table.

Out of total 2578 households in Meringden Rural Municipality, there were 2,326 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 2 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 0 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 229houses were founded on wood.
With respect to wall of the houses, 2,149 houses were mud bonded, 4 houses were cement bonded, 97 houses were wood planks bonded, 306 houses were bamboo bonded and 1 houses had unbaked bricks on their outer walls.Rest of the houses were reported of having other types of outer wall, while some of them reported nothing of having the outer wall bonding.

The households still using kerosene as source of light were 1,678, while 484 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.15.

out of 2,578 households in Meringden Rural Municipality, 739 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 1,839 households reported of using at least one facility. Economic Census
According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 397 establishments in Meringden Rural Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 1,139 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 639 and female engagement of 500 persons.In every business, there were an average of 2.87 people engaged with average males are 1.61 and females are 1.26. The ratio of male to female engagement in the establishments are 1.28, which means as many as 1.28 males are enagement in the economic activities per female.
Similarly, the engagement of males were 56.10 percent while the females are 43.90 percent.
