In 2017 election of Jorayal Rural Municipality (Doti district), candidate Durga Dutta Ojha of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 3,874 (48.91%) votes out of total votes of 7,920 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Dipak Kumar Bista of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 3,228 (27.37%) of votes. The rest of 2 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 818 (5.16) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Jamuna Kumari Bohara (rokaya) of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 3,959 (51.40%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Bhawana Kumari Bam Ojha of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,046 (26.12%) of votes and came in second position. Other 1 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 698 (4.53) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 122 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 77 (63.11%) males and 45 (36.89%) females. Moreover, there were total 29 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 6 wards. Same as, total 44 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 22 females and 20 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
