In 2017 election of Dipayal Silgadhi Municipality (Doti district), candidate Manju Malasi of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 4,428 (46.58%) votes out of total votes of 9,506 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Baji Singh Khadka of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 4,152 (29.80%) of votes. The rest of 4 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 926 (4.87) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Shiva Raj Khadka of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 4,536 (49.15%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Prasis Mahara of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 4,093 (29.73%) of votes and came in second position. Other 2 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 600 (3.25) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 151 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 86 (56.95%) males and 65 (43.05%) females. Moreover, there were total 35 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 9 wards. Same as, total 54 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 25 females and 27 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
