In 2017 election of Ajayameru Rural Municipality (Dadeldhura district), candidate Umesh Prasad Bhatt of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 2,271 (35.91%) votes out of total votes of 6,325 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Dhan Bahadur Saud of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 1,592 (18.52%) of votes. The rest of 4 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 2,462 (19.46) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Kalawati Bhad of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 1,838 (29.55%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Krishna Bahadur Bista of Independent (Ind) secured 1,557 (19.32%) of votes and came in second position. Other 3 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 2,826 (22.71) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 115 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 76 (66.09%) males and 39 (33.91%) females. Moreover, there were total 25 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 6 wards. Same as, total 44 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 18 females and 17 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
