In 2017 election of Navadurga Rural Municipality (Dadeldhura district), candidate Kabindra Bahadur Bista of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,969 (44.16%) votes out of total votes of 6,723 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Laxmi Prasad Awasthi of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 2,745 (28.32%) of votes. The rest of 4 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 1,009 (7.50) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Dambari Devi Oli of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,004 (46.84%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Jayanti Devi Budh Ayer of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,378 (25.25%) of votes and came in second position. Other 5 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 1,031 (8.04) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 112 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 67 (59.82%) males and 45 (40.18%) females. Moreover, there were total 26 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 5 wards. Same as, total 37 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 18 females and 18 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
