In 2017 election of Patan Municipality (Baitadi district), candidate Keshav Bahadur Chand of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 4,833 (44.75%) votes out of total votes of 10,799 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Naresh Kumar Bishwokarma of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 3,382 (21.64%) of votes. The rest of 4 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 2,584 (11.96) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Saraswati Koli of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,695 (35.14%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Dura Devi Bam of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 3,456 (24.32%) of votes and came in second position. Other 3 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 3,364 (16.00) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 207 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 123 (59.42%) males and 84 (40.58%) females. Moreover, there were total 44 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 10 wards. Same as, total 75 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 39 females and 38 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
