In 2017 election of Khaptadchhanna Rural Municipality (Bajhang district), candidate Barka Bahadur Rokaya of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,279 (39.04%) votes out of total votes of 5,837 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Mishra Bahadur Rokaya of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 2,096 (25.83%) of votes. The rest of 2 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 1,462 (12.52) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Pausara Devi Thapa of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,252 (38.96%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Dhira Kumari Rokaya (khatri) of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,251 (28.02%) of votes and came in second position. Other 1 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 1,278 (11.05) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 113 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 65 (57.52%) males and 48 (42.48%) females. Moreover, there were total 22 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 7 wards. Same as, total 42 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 21 females and 21 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
