In 2017 election of Himali Rural Municipality (Bajura district), candidate Govinda Bahadur Malla of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 1,776 (48.66%) votes out of total votes of 3,650 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Aj Bahadur Malla of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 1,476 (27.20%) of votes. The rest of 2 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 398 (5.45) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Chandra Devi Budha of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 1,673 (46.42%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Raj Kala Sarki of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 1,563 (29.62%) of votes and came in second position. Other 1 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 368 (5.11) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 102 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 65 (63.73%) males and 37 (36.27%) females. Moreover, there were total 21 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 7 wards. Same as, total 40 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 20 females and 14 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
