In 2017 election of Chaurjahari Municipality (Rukum_W district), candidate Bishal Sharma of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 5,420 (49.29%) votes out of total votes of 10,996 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Balbir Gosain of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 3,204 (19.52%) of votes. The rest of 3 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 2,372 (10.79) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Radha Roka of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 5,325 (49.06%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Manisha Rokaya of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,048 (18.84%) of votes and came in second position. Other 3 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 2,480 (11.43) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 223 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 133 (59.64%) males and 90 (40.36%) females. Moreover, there were total 48 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 14 wards. Same as, total 83 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 42 females and 40 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
