In 2017 election of Tribeninalgaad Municipality (Jajarkot district), candidate Tek Bahadur Rawal of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 3,418 (37.72%) votes out of total votes of 9,061 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Chabi Pant of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 2,898 (23.22%) of votes. The rest of 2 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 2,745 (15.15) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Bal Kumari Basnet of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 3,241 (36.62%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Dhanmaya Shahi of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,912 (24.08%) of votes and came in second position. Other 2 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 2,697 (15.24) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 225 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 138 (61.33%) males and 87 (38.67%) females. Moreover, there were total 46 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 13 wards. Same as, total 91 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 40 females and 40 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
