In 2017 election of Chamunda Bindrasaini Municipality (Dailekh district), candidate Surya Bahadur Shahi of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,773 (34.79%) votes out of total votes of 7,971 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Ganesh Kumar Shahi of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 2,670 (24.85%) of votes. The rest of 8 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 2,528 (15.86) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Tara Kumari Khatri of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,954 (37.56%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Indra Kumari Shahi of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,480 (22.92%) of votes and came in second position. Other 6 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 2,430 (15.45) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 217 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 131 (60.37%) males and 86 (39.63%) females. Moreover, there were total 46 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 9 wards. Same as, total 77 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 38 females and 38 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
