In 2017 election of Chandannath Municipality (Jumla district), candidate Kantika Sejuwal of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,806 (40.46%) votes out of total votes of 6,935 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Shanti Lal Mahat of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 2,066 (21.21%) of votes. The rest of 2 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 2,063 (14.87) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Apsara Devi Neupane Mahat of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 2,018 (30.30%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Jagat Bahadur Khatri of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 1,774 (20.44%) of votes and came in second position. Other 4 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 2,867 (21.53) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 188 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 113 (60.11%) males and 75 (39.89%) females. Moreover, there were total 40 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 10 wards. Same as, total 72 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 34 females and 32 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
