In 2017 election of Mudkechula Rural Municipality (Dolpa district), candidate Datta Bahadur Shahi of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 933 (46.03%) votes out of total votes of 2,027 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Lanka Bahadur Rokaya of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 931 (31.45%) of votes. The rest of 2 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 163 (4.02) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Sabita Kumari Rokaya of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 954 (47.72%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Himali Gharti of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 835 (28.28%) of votes and came in second position. Other 1 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 210 (5.25) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 117 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 70 (59.83%) males and 47 (40.17%) females. Moreover, there were total 24 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 9 wards. Same as, total 46 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 23 females and 17 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
