In 2017 election of Yasodhara Rural Municipality (Kapilvastu district), candidate Girjesh Kumar Pandeya of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,275 (28.74%) votes out of total votes of 11,394 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Ram Dev Kalwar of Independent (Ind) who secured 3,155 (21.51%) of votes. The rest of 6 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 4,964 (21.78) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Kanyawati Upadhyay of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,957 (27.85%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Rajmati Yadav of Snghiy Samajbadi Form Nepal (SanSFN) secured 1,709 (12.59%) of votes and came in second position. Other 10 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 5,953 (28.03) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 260 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 169 (65.00%) males and 91 (35.00%) females. Moreover, there were total 66 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 8 wards. Same as, total 93 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 40 females and 41 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
