In 2017 election of Gaidahawa Rural Municipality (Rupandehi district), candidate Bachu Kewat of Snghiy Samajbadi Form Nepal (SanSFN) secured 5,441 (37.33%) votes out of total votes of 14,577 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Basi Ullah Musalman of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 3,418 (17.07%) of votes. The rest of 6 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 5,718 (19.61) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Subhawati Yadav of Snghiy Samajbadi Form Nepal (SanSFN) secured 4,998 (37.29%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Manju Neupane of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,359 (18.26%) of votes and came in second position. Other 5 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 5,045 (18.82) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 258 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 165 (63.95%) males and 93 (36.05%) females. Moreover, there were total 61 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 9 wards. Same as, total 97 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 44 females and 41 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
