In 2017 election of Devdaha Municipality (Rupandehi district), candidate Hira Bahadur Khatri of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 10,211 (46.74%) votes out of total votes of 21,846 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Tikaram Jaisi Chapagain of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 10,099 (31.50%) of votes. The rest of 9 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 1,536 (3.52) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Bidhya Laxmi Gurung of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 10,270 (52.75%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Tika Neupane of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 7,111 (23.91%) of votes and came in second position. Other 4 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 2,089 (5.36) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 300 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 174 (58.00%) males and 126 (42.00%) females. Moreover, there were total 67 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 12 wards. Same as, total 114 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 55 females and 47 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
