In 2017 election of Jaljala Rural Municipality (Parbat district), candidate Yam Bahadur Malla of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,723 (41.09%) votes out of total votes of 9,060 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Lal Bahadur Adikari of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 3,078 (24.08%) of votes. The rest of 7 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 2,259 (12.47) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Sima Garbuja Pun of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,783 (41.55%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Anita Kumari Regmi (paudel) of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 3,657 (28.38%) of votes and came in second position. Other 2 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 1,665 (9.14) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 147 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 93 (63.27%) males and 54 (36.73%) females. Moreover, there were total 33 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 9 wards. Same as, total 53 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 24 females and 24 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
