In 2017 election of Aanbookhaireni Rural Municipality (Tanahun district), candidate Gir Bahadur Thapa of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,589 (39.26%) votes out of total votes of 6,594 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Santa Bahadur K.c of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 2,242 (24.41%) of votes. The rest of 2 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 1,763 (13.37) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Pushpa Devi Shrestha of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,297 (35.77%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Mina Adhikari of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,165 (24.83%) of votes and came in second position. Other 3 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 1,960 (15.26) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 136 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 81 (59.56%) males and 55 (40.44%) females. Moreover, there were total 28 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 6 wards. Same as, total 51 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 25 females and 23 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
