In 2017 election of Panchkhal Municipality (Kavrepalanchok district), candidate Mahesh Kharel of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 7,356 (41.72%) votes out of total votes of 17,631 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Rudra Bahadur Baniya of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 6,800 (27.21%) of votes. The rest of 6 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 3,475 (9.85) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Laxmi Danuwar of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 7,026 (40.20%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Bhakta Kumari Lama of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 6,622 (27.02%) of votes and came in second position. Other 4 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 3,831 (10.96) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 246 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 147 (59.76%) males and 99 (40.24%) females. Moreover, there were total 61 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 13 wards. Same as, total 86 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 44 females and 41 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
