In 2017 election of Tripurasundari Rural Municipality (Dhading district), candidate Shambhu Kumar Thapa of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 4,060 (40.62%) votes out of total votes of 9,996 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Basudev Timalsina of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 3,961 (28.18%) of votes. The rest of 4 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 1,975 (9.88) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Devi Kumari Burlakoti of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,990 (39.93%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Krishna Kumari Thapa Chhetri (shrestha) of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 3,899 (27.89%) of votes and came in second position. Other 2 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 2,103 (10.52) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 144 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 87 (60.42%) males and 57 (39.58%) females. Moreover, there were total 31 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 7 wards. Same as, total 54 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 26 females and 23 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
