In 2017 election of Kalikamai Rural Municipality (Parsa district), candidate Nathuni Prasad of Nepali Janata Dal (NepJD) secured 2,816 (34.89%) votes out of total votes of 8,072 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Lalsa Devi Kalwar of Snghiy Samajbadi Form Nepal (SanSFN) who secured 2,697 (24.77%) of votes. The rest of 10 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 2,559 (15.85) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Rajesh Kumar Chaurasiya of Snghiy Samajbadi Form Nepal (SanSFN) secured 2,914 (37.98%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Malati Devi Koiri of Nepali Janata Dal (NepJD) secured 2,630 (24.84%) of votes and came in second position. Other 4 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 2,128 (13.87) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 140 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 89 (63.57%) males and 51 (36.43%) females. Moreover, there were total 28 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 5 wards. Same as, total 49 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 23 females and 22 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
