In 2017 election of Jagarnathpur Rural Municipality (Parsa district), candidate Jalim Miya Mansuri of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 3,401 (31.08%) votes out of total votes of 10,944 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Krishnamohan Prasad Yadav of Snghiy Samajbadi Form Nepal (SanSFN) who secured 3,037 (21.17%) of votes. The rest of 5 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 4,506 (20.59) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Bismillah Khatun of Snghiy Samajbadi Form Nepal (SanSFN) secured 3,141 (30.10%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Maimul Nesha of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,563 (18.88%) of votes and came in second position. Other 7 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 4,731 (22.67) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 189 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 115 (60.85%) males and 74 (39.15%) females. Moreover, there were total 41 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 6 wards. Same as, total 68 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 32 females and 32 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
