In 2017 election of Chakraghatta Rural Municipality (Sarlahi district), candidate Bikram Yadav of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 3,216 (33.89%) votes out of total votes of 9,490 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Krishna Kumar Yadav of Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RasJPN) who secured 3,148 (24.78%) of votes. The rest of 9 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 3,126 (16.47) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Bansodha Devi of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 3,310 (36.04%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Phulbanti Kumari Devi of Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RasJPN) secured 3,050 (24.41%) of votes and came in second position. Other 3 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 2,825 (15.38) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 203 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 134 (66.01%) males and 69 (33.99%) females. Moreover, there were total 48 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 9 wards. Same as, total 75 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 34 females and 30 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
