In 2017 election of Anarma Rural Municipality (Siraha district), candidate Thaku Mahato Koiri of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 2,436 (28.18%) votes out of total votes of 8,644 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Chandeshwor Mandal of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 2,209 (19.94%) of votes. The rest of 9 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 3,999 (23.13) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Siyawati Mukhiya of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 2,299 (26.55%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Ram Kumari Mahato of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,298 (20.97%) of votes and came in second position. Other 5 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 4,063 (23.46) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 151 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 87 (57.62%) males and 64 (42.38%) females. Moreover, there were total 29 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 5 wards. Same as, total 51 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 26 females and 27 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
