In 2017 election of Yangwarak Rural Municipality (Panchthar district), candidate Lekh Nath Ghimire of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 3,748 (47.72%) votes out of total votes of 7,854 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Sher Bahadur Nugo of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 3,449 (29.73%) of votes. The rest of 4 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 657 (4.18) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Kamal Kumari Yonghang of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 3,576 (46.50%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Kalpana Koirala of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,872 (25.49%) of votes and came in second position. Other 5 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 1,242 (8.08) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 115 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 69 (60.00%) males and 46 (40.00%) females. Moreover, there were total 24 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 6 wards. Same as, total 41 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 20 females and 17 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
